January 1, 2023 Rose Visits
Rose
We'd been talking about a visit to Mexico for our granddaughter Rose for months but In September we finally nailed it down: Rose, aged 13, was going to fly to La Cruz by herself, and spend two weeks with us on Wings.Wow! What a trip that was going to be.
Well, plans were finalized, tickets were bought, and finally on December 14, Rose arrived at the airport in La Cruz, under the care of some nice American Airlines employees who watched over her the whole time.
Our plan was not to provide two weeks of tourist activities but to let Rose simply share our life with us.
That's not to say we didn't do a lot of things, there was a sailboat race on Wings where Rose became an active crew member, trips to beach where she played in the surf, trips to the pool, dinners out at Tacos on the Street, shopping trips, a toy sailboat regatta, card games with some of our friends, and more.
But most of all we had quality time together.
Her room was the forepeak on Wings, which is really just a cave, but she loved it, private and cozy.
She met all of our friends and the La Cruz marina staff, got her own gate key, and had pesos to spend at the store. I think it was pretty fun for a 13 year old.
Actually I got very attached to her being there and it seemed completely natural to have her living with us. When she was in the boat in her room forward quietly reading, I loved it.
